The Search For Kansas

Chapter Three

The traitors are completely unaware that we have discovered their secret.

We will be able to destroy them all within two days. First, we will attack their weapons. Then we can demolish their breeding ships at will.

Bring in everything. Leave nothing in reserve. Attack anything within reach. Close in on everything else.

Commence firing at 01:00 Zulu.

Colonel Smith paces nervously. "Something about this just does not make sense."

"Senator, I have incoming traffic on the secure channel."

The assault was a complete success. Almost every ship has been destroyed. We received no casualties.

"Congratulations Colonel! You lead a great assault. Thanks to your efforts, our race has a chance to survive."

"I just wish I understood why they betrayed us. They seemed so trustworthy."

Maybe I should check it out just in case….

Prepare my scout ship.

Civilian Relocation Continues…

Panic has set in. The National Guard troops are completely overwhelmed with the numbers of fleeing ships.

The best they can hope for is to keep traffic moving in the right direction and hope nobody has a really bad accident.

Hundreds launch at the same time – fleeing for their lives.

Check for stragglers.

Anything that cannot leave by midnight must be destroyed. Leave nothing behind for the enemy.

Leave no hope for our people to return. They must think of this as a permanent relocation.

Get everything moving.

If you cannot move it, blow it up.

A Dreadful Discovery

Colonel Smith discovers the truth.

The Flying Horses were actually loyal allies. They never betrayed us.

Who did?

Meanwhile at a remote base, Senator Ellis convenes a secret meeting.

"Everything is going according to plan. By the end of the year, Colonel Smith will be destroyed. If he survives the upcoming battle, his reputation will be ruined. He will have to retire in disgrace."

Continue building the secret fleet. You have three days to finish.
