Gate Crashing the Bar-B-Que

Well, it seems we have message from the Archivist, who somehow still lives, or is it his twin...

Greetings JonniGod,
We hope you receive this message and that if you do, you publish it. We the Archivists believe that the truth must be told about clan Kindred. Like the last Archivist that contacted you, I have probably forfeited my life through sending this, for the collective's justice is swift and brutal toward all spies. But we, the Archivists, have sworn to lay down our lives in revealing the nefarious dealings of this undead clan. As I swore, so I do.

I have chosen to reveal the truth of the events leading to the start of the Rabble/Motley war (or the BBQ as they are also known). I have gained access to Malkav's archives and can reveal some of the messages he has from that time. There are many rumours from around that time as to just how that war started. Here, finally, I can reveal what really happened.

Turn 319, Message from Malkav of clan Kindred to Khan of clan F.I.S.T and Leo, the God of Colors, of clan Ortis:

What next? We have peace with Hydra, so you two must be completely devoid of enemies now. I still have my little game to play with Harlequin and I can now concentrate a lot of forces against Tantalus to finish his hall off.

I am keen to get involved in a conflict with Motley. What are your thoughts on this?

Malkav.

Turn 319, Message from Leo to Khan and Malkav:

I am not ready for a big fight now as most of my titans (nearly 20) are hardly damaged and my clan size is only 85. I have started a program to upgrade my fighters and I hope it will not finish in a close date but I am willing to enter a small combat. Maybe Tantalus and allies may be possible. I can join you in that.

What do you think?

Leo

Turn 319, Message from Khan and Malkav:

I have no conflict with them Malkav, and I do not consider them dangerous to Immortals in any way. As for going for WB's or somebody elses hall he/she must really do something bad to tick me off before I go that far, call me traditional however I do regard halls as sacred titans...

I however am not happy by the fact that Hydra will save Genesis' arse, Genesis could pose a big threat to Immortals and our friends, when/if they are free ; (

Khan.

Turn 322, Message from Demon of clan Horde to the rest of the Rabble:

So what we gonna do then?
Build an attack squad for Keewaydin and head south with the halls or what?

Demon

Turn 323, Message from Khan to the rest of the Rabble:

Yeah I have a few I'd like to bust the shit out of Kowardin's hall and while I'm at it I' wouldn't mind if I blast Dai Shan and a few others ;D

But yeah, we may have permanent peace with them, why not (for the first time in our history) let it be us who are the ones to break the peace };D

Khan

Turn 323, Message from Malkav to the rest of the Rabble:

I shall be in position to launch an attack against Motley in a few days. So far I have gathered a grand total of 0 clans to my cause, so I don't hold out much hope of long term survival.

If you are all serious about breaking the Hydra ceasefire before the ink has dried by attacking Keewaydin, then I would appreciate you getting on and deciding for sure before I attack Motley.

Malkav.

Turn 323, Message from Leo to the rest of the Rabble:

My opinions are listed below:
1- I am okay if the people are willing a permanent peace agreement with Hydra.

2- I have no enemy but it is not a problem for now I am forming a WT70 army.

3- (Malkav) If you are serious about Motley, I can possibly join you but not for at least a tourney, unless they fire on my titans. If they do my reaction will be a hard one. But if we are planning to attack Motley that we should make a permanent peace agreement with Hydra. At least the Immortals should. I estimate the Sphere war will not finish before at least 4 tourneys have passed and that time should be sufficient enough to finish Motley.

Leo.

Turn 323, Message from Chief Bunny of clan Rabbit to Malkav:

I'll attack Motley with ya Malkey! So long as I can call you Malkey! ;)

Chief Bunny

Turn 323, Message from Chief Bunny to the rest of the Rabble:

A few questions/points about the Motley Conflict if we are going to engage...

1) Motley are a fair trek away, do you have a gate route planned and/or a set of Rendezvous co-ords where a mobile base is going to be set up (assuming you're that organised).

2) If Motley are fighting Rev, this may be seen as fighting on the side of Rev in this "world war". Though Hydra may tolerate this and see it for what it is (opportunism), If Genesis win the war, they may not view us too kindly, you okay with this... or do you say to hell with complications, I wanna fight!!

Chief Bunny

Turn 323, Message from Demon to the rest of the Rabble:

You do know Rabbit, Genesis are my proper enemies, remember? There is just a ceasefire at the moment and if they win this so called "world war" (how it can be called this without our involvement is beyond me) they will be coming after me anyway, apparently!

Point 1 is fair although apparently they aren't as far as you think. Point 2, I covered so who cares what Genesis thinks ;)

I take it nobody wants to get Keewaydin anymore then?

Demon

Turn 323, Message from Khan to the rest of the Rabble:

1) I really can't think of a good reason to attack Motley. They seem harmless enough to me.

2) To hell with Genesis; I do not like the idea of Genesis surviving this war. They are the fastest killing machine that ever set foot on the hexes of this battle sphere...

Can't we just find a better enemy or can't we just secure our future and join one of the groups?

And yes I have no idea of what to do or who to attack, but just like the God of Colors, a decent attack force would tale at least a tourney or so to prepare ;)

Khan

Turn 323, Message from Khan to the rest of the Rabble:

If we all want Keewaydin and, if we are prepared to face the after effects of his hall being diminished then lets say it and let's start preparing for this... It should take at least a week to get 15 fighters in range from each clan...

So who is FOR attacking KOWARDINS HALL... and possibly more }; )

Khan

Turn 323, Message from Demon to the rest of the Rabble:

I am certainly up for that ;) and will give15 fighters with 5 breeders in support. I think that all those who enter this endeavour should do the same so we can give him a proper kicking. Having said this I think we should consider moving south like has been suggested, with the halls I mean.

I will add to this though that Malkav chose to be nice to Genesis when I wanted to fight them so perhaps we should allow Motley to chase him around while making friends with them ;)

Demon

Turn 323, Message from Chief Bunny to the rest of the Rabble:

We? We!?? You only don't like Keewaydin 'cos he kicked your ass in the KA vs. SS war ;D. I've got no reason to want to attack my former boss. I'll keep up the Hall defending part of the Rabble deal, but otherwise you lot are on you own with that one.

Chief Bunny

Turn 324, Message from Asmodeus of clan Malachias to the rest of the Rabble:

I have no enemies in Motley, but I'd just lurve to destroy Perfidious (we go back before even the SS-KA war, to the days of Khan & Asmo). So I guess I'd be happy to shoot at her buddies when they start shooting at me, and I've just been waiting for an excuse to wipe the purple ones off the sphere.

Asmo

Turn 324, Message from clan Mapmakers to clan Kindred:

Hail Kindred,

I don't suppose if I asked you nicely that you'd tell me of your intentions towards the Crew at this time?

Clan Mapmaker

Turn 325, Message from Leo to Khan and Malkav:

What the hell is Penda doing?
He is setting a new border. What do you think we will do about this?

Leo

Turn 325, Message from clan Mapmakers to clan Kindred:

Hail Kindred

Are you stirring again Kindred with that post of yours? I admit I forwarded your message on to others in my alliance to read. My words went something like "This is why I don't like dealing with Kindred diplomatically. Can someone give me their opinions as to what he actually said. Also what is Penda's and WB's response to breeders? MM."

Now I was mainly curious about their opinions of the message. I read it a few times and on balance I'd decided that you'd told me absolutely nothing. I was utterly impressed by this. I wanted to see if the others decided the same way. I guess I stirred up Tara a bit but it wasn't deliberate. *chuckle*

Clan Mapmaker

Turn 325, Message from Leo to clan Penda:

Dear Penda,
My allies and I are wondering what it is you are doing? Are you building a new border or what? If you are building a new border, what are you planning to do my titans within these lands. I have a scout there right now. We also wonder why you didn't notify us before building these new borders?

Regards, Leo of clan Ortis

A Member of the Mighty IMMORTALS

Turn 325, Message from clan Penda to Leo:

I am marking the new borders because at some point in the future (God knows when) they will be enforced. AND I didn't want any other clans to start using that region.

King Penda

Turn 325, Message from clan WB to Motley and the Immortals:

Yo! Immortals & Motley ,

It appears we are having problems in communication. Mainly, acts made by the Motley seem quite provocative to some of the Immortals, and vice versa.

So, in the interest of communication, this is my understanding of our two groups history in this region(and this region alone)

History Lesson

The Immortals(specifically FIST and Ortis) had settled around the region the Motley currently claims. They had territory to the west of us and to the south of us, as well as having some of their territory where ours is today. This territory was unmarked, I believe, but it really doesn't matter because....

Hydra came along and shoved the Immortals out of this region. If there had been totems, Hydra would have destroyed them. While the Immortals were fleeing....

Motley came along and claimed what appeared to be unclaimed territory. The Immortals were vacating, so mostly didn't care. Kindred wanted to stick some titans inside what had become Motley territory to fight Hydra. Kindred was told to shove off. Kindred said "no", actually I believe his exact words were "Either way the answer is a polite, but simple, no. We hadn't noticed your borders going up, because as there appears to be a ceasefire agreement between our two alliances, we have paid your titans no heed. The area is useful in our battle with Hydra and we intend carrying on using it - more titans are on their way to the area." Kindred's titans inside the claimed territory were than removed from the sphere.

After some time passed, the Motley found themselves stuck here due to Revelation being all over the place. So we expanded our borders a bit...

The Hydra/Immortal war ended. Kindred & Ortis (& FIST?) began moving back into their traditional homeland. This has caused Ortis to misgate some forces inside our territory. Appearances indicate hall hunting, but the facts are he is just migrating.

This leads us to today, in an effort to make Motley territory more secure Penda has advocated extending it and has put up some borders to show how it could be extended. These borders are encompassing territory the Immortals feel is theirs.

Clearly, we are at an impasse. Who gets to claim which territory? What are the Immortals claims (as they aren't marked!), what are ours? Could we share a buffer zone of territory where both groups are allowed to operate in, but no one else? Can Kindred curb his random taunting? Can Perfidious curb her bloodlust? Can WB stop being an old Stick in the Mud?

These questions and more to be answered by discussion, or guns. I would suggest that the Immortals nominate someone to speak for them and arrange things with Mapmakers.

Turn 326, Message from Chief Bunny to Malkav:

Out of curiosity as to what you get up to in the sphere... WHAT ARE YOU UP TO!? What's the deal with Harlequin, Penda, Perfidious, WB and many, many more clans that you are both aiding, attacking or just ignoring??

Chief Bunny

Turn 326, Message from Malkav to Chief Bunny:

Harlequin - we have a little scam going
Penda - nothing in particular (other than a desire to destroy 9 more of his breeders in revenge for one of ours).
Perfidious - she is totally paranoid about my clan. She is fun to toy with.
WB - I considered him one of the few clans outside of the Rabble that could be truly trusted. He broke that trust and so will loose his hall (I hope!)

Malkav

Turn 327, Message from clan Penda to the Immortals:

Hail Kindred (and F.I.S.T and Ortis),

Today, Tara and I will launch an attack on the Kindred forces perched upon the hill beyond our borders. Kindred's diplomacy has shouted that he wants the possibility to attack us at a moment's notice. We do not particularly want to make this a full-scale war, but we are going to pursue a scorched earth policy with respect to Kindred near our borders - especially when there is such a large army.

Ortis, I know you are upset by my new borders and I respect that. Your diplomacy has been borderline inflammatory, but I hear good things about your clan (unlike the madness that is Kindred, who is simply MAD). This war is aimed at clearing our borderlands of Kindred. Your existing forces within my new lands can remain, except your scouts that are within 5 hexes of the old borders. They are obviously probing scouts and so will be killed as spies, and so I am targeting them from today as well.

F.I.S.T, I only hear very good things about your clan, and I hope that this local war will in no way endanger possible future relations with you. As I said, this is so far a local policing action, I would be grateful to know if you are going to join in, or let it run down in a tourney or two.

As a final note, this message is given as fair notice of limited war. Please respond with your intent. If I do not get a truthful indication of your scope for our conflict then we are going to be fighting for a long time indeed, and that is not something I want, for World War 1 is about to be unleashed upon the sphere. And unaligned battles could see us trampled by one of the mega armies.

King Penda

Turn 328, Message from Leo to clan Penda:

Dear friend World War I has truly started.

Leo

Turn 328, Message from Khan to Malkav:

Malkav, I have been chatting with Leo all Day about Penda's mail.

So here is the best strategy we have come up with;

You and Leo fight Penda and Perfidious. If anybody else gets involved, then I barge in!

Khan

Turn 329, Message from Malkav to King Penda:

We dangled our lines and you bit. Now we shall play you for the puppet you truly are.

Malkav

Turn 329, Message from Leo to the rest of the Rabble:

It seems that our (myself and Malkav's) war against Penda and Perfidious will expand to include all of Motley. Since they consist of 5 clans we will need help. Rabbit and FIST told me that they would join when that happened. Anyone else?
Leo

Turn 330, Message from Demon to the rest of the Rabble:

I am jumping some over today to land just south east of 319,319. That will be 8 fighters of my 25-30 purple fighters that I have on the way. I am also going to have 5 assault breeders of techs 30,50,50,50,50 over there in a few days. Hope this helps, and if you know of co-ordinates where they may be more useful and within easy jump distance, then let me know. I have let Genesis know that I am going to be moving into the area to aid the Immortals so they should not to get involved, by shooting me I mean! :)

Demon

Turn 330, Message from Chief Bunny to the rest of the Rabble:

I already have a whole 1 fighter up near the co-ords where the fighting is and breeders will follow shortly to provide a steady flow of troops for the area. Because of the distance, specialist breeders must be built for the jump, using our main gate. Any fighters in the area capable of making the jump are also en route. Plus some of my furthest out border patrols are also on the way.

Chief Bunny

Turn 330, Message from Asmodeus to the rest of the Rabble:

Where is the drop zone for fighters heading for the Motley skirmish? I'll start diverting fighters to the gates so they can join the fun. :) I've got fighters at the 19 gate I can send through today.

Asmo

This raises so many questions! Did the war start simply to stop the Rabble breaking their ceasefire with Hydra? Did it start simply because Malkav wanted revenge, in a big way, for the death of a handful of breeders? Or was there another reason behind it that these messages do not reveal? Sadly we will probably never know as Malkav does not make a habit of recording his private thoughts. Well I have done the task I set myself and I hope I can remain brave and true to the cause when I meet my end.

The Archivist.
