This conflict report comes from the Crimson Breath, deep in the heart of the spawning fields....
The
Red Dragon stood on a small outcropping of rock in the middle of a great forest,
watching the horde assemble itself across the river. Every now and then a shock
wave shuddered through the ground, tell tail signs of the continuous detonations
of obsolete horde units, paving the way for new generations.
The Red Dragon exchanged glances with both Green Dragon and White Dragon, grimacing at the shear number of horde units. None were anywhere near the size of the Dragon’s, but all had weapons, and all were of much higher ability. Red Dragon raised a wing, signaling to the distant Kamikaze Dragon, perched upon the peak of a particularly large mountain. Heavily wounded, the Kamikaze Dragon was still alive, and, being 3 generations removed from the original mother, was likely to play a large role in the upcoming battle. However, being unshielded, he was unable to operate close range, instead using his immense strength to hurl nanite-covered boulders at the distant horde buildup, damaging them with shear force. Not that the horde took any more notice of these then they did of the closer, watching dragons. They simply destroyed these units and replaced them with more advanced brethren.
Gazing
out once again at the sheathing mass of flesh covering the ground as far as
the eye could see, Red Dragon knew that there was no way they were going to
be able to survive this battle. They could only hope to delay long enough to
give the slow moving breeding dragons a chance to leave the fields behind. A
sudden explosion took off raked Red Dragon across the wing, causing him to grimace
in pain. Peering through pain-shrouded eyes, Red Dragon watched the line of
fire continue up the side of the mountain, impacting with Kamikaze Dragon’s
head. The resulting explosion took off the top of the mountain. Needless to
say, there was very little sign that a titan had ever been there.
With a shout Red Dragon launched himself at the spit the horde were now crossing, White Dragon and Green Dragon close behind. There was time for one final glance at the horde forces, noticing that the entire front line had been turned into fighting units, and then it was into the melee. Red Dragon plummeted from the sky directly at F{00213}, screaming his fury. F{00213} was caught be surprise, allowing Red Dragon to claw at the treads, inflicting major damage. Crackling arcs of electricity shot from the new wound, but the titan barely seemed to notice. Slowly, F{00213}’s twin cannon focused on Red Dragon, firing blast after blast. However, Red Dragon was moving too quickly to hit, darting in and out, clawing wildly. F{00213} stood no chance, and quickly its explosion was added to the growing tumult on the field.
Red Dragon peered around, trying to get a sense of the battle again. Green Dragon had been called away to the north to help contain a new front that had open with the horde. White Dragon was still engaged with FC1E2S1W1, but appeared to be winning his battle as well. One of FC1E2S1W1’s cannons was a melted lump, and several deep claw marks crisscrossed its body from the treads to the sensitive computers near the top. Despite this, the war did not appear to be in Red Dragons favor. Beyond FC1E2S1W1 the horde continued it’s spawning, shearing numbers threatening to overrun the Dragon’s position.
A sudden scream drew Red Dragon’s attention back to White Dragon. A lucky shot from the distant F2{00213} had torn through White Dragons left wing, shattering it and continuing on to remove goodly portions of his left hind leg. White Dragon collapsed in agony, allowing FC1E2S1W1 to train its one remaining cannon on his head. White Dragon twitched once, and was still. A strange peace settled over Red Dragon. There was now no chance for survival, even should he retreat at full speed. Red Dragon stood his ground, taking a moment to tend to his injured wing, while watching the oncoming horde.
FC1E2S1W1 was the first unit to come within range of Red Dragon’s fire breath, but one blast was sufficient to turn what remained of FC1E2S1W1 into a pool of bubbling steel. However, it would take a miracle to turn back the main force. Suddenly, a roar of awesome intensity came from the sky, far above the highest any Dragon could fly. All units, both Dragon and horde, turned to stare at the black speck floating in the sky. Not that it remained a black speck for long. It quickly enlarged, reveling itself to be a mother ship class titan, coming in to land. The mother ship’s retro-rockets burned the rock into ash, as it settled into position directly in the center of the battle.
Horde cannon fire quickly welcomed the new clan to the Battle-Sphere, but to no effect.. Monstrous shields easily fended off the few shells that scored a hit, while the cannon on top began to slowly begin its job of clearing space for fighting units to be spawned. Miracle requested, miracle delivered. Red Dragon decided it was high time to leave. The breeders had been evacuated, and Green Dragon and Steel Dragon had dealt with the threat to the north. The new clan, ironically named the Red Dragon clan, would take care distracting the horde. Red Dragon launched himself into the air, following the breeders to greener pastures.
