The Worthy soon got sight of the new enemy
- more of the Sathar. Many more of the Sathar. This time they had brought
in a grand fleet. Five or six warships, and all large combat vessels.
The Worthy was immediately fired upon, taking grievous
damage and spinning south trying to hide and lick her wounds. The remaining
Mulgore tried to move south past Gonkrag XII to get firing solutions on
the Sathar. There was no need, for the Sathar came to them, and their
superior numbers again shattered the Mulgore. The mood on the ships turned
sour, as ship after ship was forced to jump out of the system, little
more than hulks after fighting to the near end. Sathar lockdown drones
kept all reinforcements out.
It wasn't long before the Grand Worthy remained alone.
Hiding in a gravity valley, still repairing and still running south. The
Sathar's wasted no time, beholders soon lit up the system. Like hounds
to the fox they came, the worthy sparing combat mass for a few attack
drones, but damaged still, and unable to run and fight at the same time.
To the south of the system she ran, until at last she turned.
Four of the Sathar came upon her, and her captain
ordered the scramblers deployed, and hid again, now in the south east
of the system, beyond Gonkrag XI. The scrambler field saved her, and so
tide after tide she fired off more scramblers, hoping to create a huge
field to deny the Sathar's a final kill.
The Sathar mined one entire half of the field. Then
one of their commanders grew tired of the game, coming in close to the
scrambler fields they fired a massive EMP burst, while another ship seeded
a GravStar. The EMP destroyed one half of the scrambler field, and the
GravStar ate away at the other. |
